First and Second Cause of Happiness or Misery

Image
W hile some humans, for some of their lives, lead peaceful and happy lives, there are also huge numbers who suffer from varying levels of unhappiness. The unhappiness may vary from severe distress and trauma as for those bombed in their homes and forced to flee as in Syria or Yemen presently, to just those suffering form daily stress and grind of life. It has been so with me too in my journey through life dear friend. It is worth reflecting on the cause of all this and do something to make our lives peaceful and happy for how can there be happiness without peace? Once one discovers root causes of misery and the path to overcome them, one can gain huge amounts peace, happiness and exhilarating joy. While the worldly teach us ways to make money or become more successful, the experience of many is that such paths lead to misery more often than happiness. In the end two things decide course of our lives. First are our own thoughts and actions that create our world and ...

When Truth is More Evil than Lies

Image
W hile all recognize that being truthful is evolved human behavior leading to progress and lies are bad behavior that produce misery after perhaps some temporary gain, there appear to be exceptions to this rule, at least at first glance. This happens when information is presented selectively albeit truthfully to create an incorrect impression. It is a technique often used by many in some of the major world media to promote an opinion desired by their masters. In this manner the media cannot be held to account for fake reporting and not reporting something can be attributed merely to carelessness. Consider the following fictional account of a democratic election to take place for a President of a fictional country and the two main contenders in the fray are A and B. Mr. A is a crooked, evil and corrupt person but has one good habit. Even the worst of humans may have a good habit or two for he is only human and not yet Satan. Mr. A has a soft corner for old persons ...

Gifts are to Cherish

Image
Developed from picture by Svendsgaard Kurt, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service E very so often it happens to us that we receive something precious, good and great in life that in the final analysis a gift from the Lord and the Universe. However, equally frequently, instead of honoring and cherishing these gifts and being grateful to the Lord for them, we tend to take it for granted as our birth right and misuse them. The result is that soon the same gift becomes a curse. It vanishes, pushing us into misery in the process. My mind went to a childhood friend who was born in a rich elite family. She grew up to be a beautiful and charming lady. At heart, she was a simple and gentle lady with malice for none. It is perhaps because of this that the Lord had showered her with so many gifts in life. But she developed a serious fault. She let herself drown in carelessness and sensual pleasures of the world. As a result she did not end up in the best possible way in later life. One...

The Blue Rose, A symbol of Divine Love

Image
Blue Rose in light shades of the sky T he present blog is devoted to spirituality as well as many other things connected to the fundamental quality of life and environment we live in. It became voluminous over its life of a decade or so. More recently, while looking for a simple image for my new blog devoted exclusively to spirituality, I looked for a simple symbol that might represent divine love. My mind went to a rose, however through long tradition different meanings have already been assigned to different rose colors. There is an older blog post on that. The pink or blue lotus came to mind but these have already developed associations with existing religious spirituality which my new blog was not. It is based on many religions, not just one, and science as well which has been my profession through much of my life. Therefore what was better than seeking help of science or technology for the new symbol and thus I arrived at the sky blue rose as the symbol of divine love b...

Why God allowed human feces to stink

Image
Even the feces of Kings smells bad. All must be humble Did you ever wonder? Surely it was not a blunder Why the Lord gave humans A horrible lump of shit Stinks enough to make us sick The Lord who made the stars Added to the rose a lovely scent When it came to humans He filled them with stench Aside for the fact that some may not pick it up to eat The reason for that Is not far to seek It is a daily reminder For mighty and the meek Who feel they are great Much pride is fake Some of us is not a cake Let that pride crumble Like the wise Do be humble.

The Parable of the Farmer and his two Sons

Image
O nce there was a farmer who had two good looking sons. The farmer and his wife worked hard for several years on the farm and saved enough to send their sons to a very good school on top of the mountain behind the village. It was an expensive residential school but very well known for its excellent training and education. Students from far off lands came to study there. When the two boys were nine and ten year old, the farmer and his wife admitted them to the school with the help of the Principal by the name of Lew who had become an acquaintance. Lew used to come down the mountain for walks on holidays, to visit the farms and for a picnic in the nearby Sherwood Forest. The older boy did not like the hard discipline of school at all. He found study hours hard and physical training classes tiresome and complained about it endlessly. It was so much nicer with the freedom to play and do as one liked at home. The younger boy, however, was grateful to his parents for havi...
