Secret of two Paths of Life, the Bright and the Dark

W hen one bases one’s life on greed, lies, hate and other forms of evil, then extent of punishment of such persons and when it should begin is decided by Universal Consciousness in keeping with the personality and deeds of such persons.   W hen one bases one’s life on love, truth and simplicity and other forms of goodness then the extent of reward of such persons and when it should begin is decided by Universal consciousness in keeping with the personality and deeds of such persons. H owever, the punishment is one of love like that from a loving parent to a child, for reform and education, never for retribution as human ones at times tend to be. T here is a gullible and foolish person who looks at evil ones and thinks, “look they are enjoying great wealth and power, let me also become like them and enjoy what this world has to offer, this talk of God and goodness is stupid talk designed by clever humans to enslave and exploit the rest,” for it is from among evil o

When bad is good

O nce, a man suffered a severe accident. He was moved to a hospital. After a few days he found himself confined to a hospital room in heavy plaster casts and stretching devices. He was told, he would be confined to a bed for the next few months but nurses would visit regularly and look after his needs. There was a TV in the room and they would bring magazines so that he might while away his time. But John, that was his name, had been an active man who loved the outdoors and felt depressed in this sorry state. Some weeks later a companion by the name of Harry joined him on the only other bed in the room and it became a little better because there was someone to talk to now. Harry was more mobile and could move around, even sit up and look through the window near his bed. John asked him about the view from the window. Harry described how the snow was melting in the fields and new grass had begun to sprout up. How children came to play now and that there was a beautiful lake

A simple method for estimating extent of evil influence in governments

I t was mentioned in the previous note how some countries in the world have become so chaotic that they have become failed states. When a state fails, it does not necessarily mean that its government has become bad or evil. There can be other historical reasons that lead to such a sad situation. Conversely, when a country is extremely stable, it does not necessarily imply that there is no evil within that government, but how does one assess or estimate evil if any? Things like evil, good, happiness are all abstract things that can be felt but not measured. Nevertheless they produce symptoms and effects that can be measured that may be used to assess such things. In an earlier note, this principle was used to assess happiness levels of various countries on the planet using measurable data such as infant mort

Watch your Fingers for much evil may flow through them

Image shared from: https://twitter.com/worthSeeingPic/status/627317306184437760/photo/1 Nothing made by man comes anywhere near the beauty created by God. Men may only build a path through it, or a build a monument to honor it. If they build a monument to desecrate the beauty and goodness that emanates from God then a time shall surely come when they shall be crushed even as insects are crushed by the wind. B y nature humans are a mixture of good and evil. In their journey through life humans do both kinds of things. Differences arise because some do more of one than the other at different times. Looking back at my own life, at this age of 65, it was so with me too. When I did good, its source was discerned to be an inner self, the true and essential part of life, a part of Universe and therefore there was hardly anything for me in person to be proud of except for the fact that at those moments of good one may draw satisfaction from the fact that one h

A Spiritual Perspective - How to deal with good and evil persons

Image
S ome persons that we run into in our journey through life are neutral, neither good nor bad in any substantial manner. Yet, there are also others we may encounter who are intensely evil or immensely good, who did much harm or much good to us respectively or at least tried to. It is not that they always succeeded because eventually what happens to us has to do with our own fate. The difference between good and evil persons is that an evil person will easily harm others for the sake of their own self interest, ego or pride, whereas good persons often sacrifice their own self interest to do good to others. Evil persons also tend to impose their will on others and will easily do to others what they would not like done to them. Therefore a cruel person is an evil person. Good persons on the other hand appreciate the freedom of others to choose and tend to be compassionate to all life most of the time. Having said that, it must be recognized that some good exists in evil perso

True Success – The Good and the Bad

Image
The path that leads to the gate in the author's home A t the root, humans are basically a species of good beings All begin their lives by loving their mothers or care giver with utmost tenderness. They nevertheless do much wrong through the course of their life times (this author is included, hence the knowledge). This is because of lack of wisdom or a limited wisdom and habits that develop out of that and manifest according to circumstances. By far the biggest lack of wisdom is to think that all actions, good or bad shall not be brought to account at some stage sooner or later. A good person on the other hand, knowing that there is a Universal Eye that notes all, does good not for the reward but because it feels good and right to do that. The practice of love and compassion, truth and simplicity helps one to overcome shortcomings and drives one towards wisdom and good habits. The reverse helps to enhance one's foolishness and drives one closer to the intense

The Good and the Wicked

Image
J ust as the variety of trees and wild flowers on our planet is immense, so is the variety of life and types of humans that live on it. While most trees and wild flowers of the forest are pretty, there are also some that are ugly. While most humans are inherently good, there are also some who are wicked. When one talks of good and wicked humans, one does not mean those who are superficially or visibly good or wicked but here the mention is of those who are   really, truly and deeply so. Thus, whereas one rapidly thinks of a thief or a robber as wicked, more often that is a case of a desperate or stupid person, one who has adopted illegal means and when one talks of a good person, it is not those who are recognized as philanthropists, who more likely are just persons who are too clever by half, employing a ruse to win respect in society with pretense, hypocrisy and show; or worse have found a clever way to make a living by exploiting the goodness of others. It is for t

When Fear is Good

Image
A view of Childhood home of author from afar. I n some spiritual discussion with friends, some mentioned that they do not like the idea of fear being used in the scriptures and that god should be all about love. But dear friends, there is a time and place for everything under the sun and there is a time when fear has a role to play. Some female cats frequently roam around my home and every some months a male cat from an adjoining block, when he is in heat, moves in and produces the most irritating of mournful sounds to attract the females. It goes on day and night and if shooed away he is back at it after a bit. Yesterday I threw some large pebbles at him and that has scared him away for now. Fear has worked. Humans too when blinded by things like excessive lust, greed and anger often need fear to knock them out of it. What happens when ego becomes excessive? Well the guy becomes such a megalomaniac that even fear may not work then. Dictators frequently get into this s
