Gifts are to Cherish

Image
Developed from picture by Svendsgaard Kurt, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service E very so often it happens to us that we receive something precious, good and great in life that in the final analysis a gift from the Lord and the Universe. However, equally frequently, instead of honoring and cherishing these gifts and being grateful to the Lord for them, we tend to take it for granted as our birth right and misuse them. The result is that soon the same gift becomes a curse. It vanishes, pushing us into misery in the process. My mind went to a childhood friend who was born in a rich elite family. She grew up to be a beautiful and charming lady. At heart, she was a simple and gentle lady with malice for none. It is perhaps because of this that the Lord had showered her with so many gifts in life. But she developed a serious fault. She let herself drown in carelessness and sensual pleasures of the world. As a result she did not end up in the best possible way in later life. One

Feel The Bern: Bernie Sanders

Feel The Bern "Billionaires can't have it all" Bernie Sanders Bernie Sanders, the Mythical 666 and the Sparrow T he world watches the Election process in USA with much interest. After all, as the largest economic and military power on the planet in recent times, what happens in USA effects the lives of all, as the world discovered during the financial crisis of 2008; the fact that a banker in US decides it is easier to loot a bank with a bonus rather than a gun while a politician that could control him pats him on the back in return for financial favors; or as the crisis distressed millions of Libya, Yemen, Gaza, Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan are finding out to their dismay as they flee from their homes and cities that lie on the central axis of the world; even toddlers, infants, the aged and the maimed. Destruction often begins in the core before it spreads to the periphery. Of all the candidates in the race, this blogger became an ardent fan of Berni

Thirty Unusual Years of Human Civilization and the Apocalypse

Image
http://www.artrenewal.org/artwork/154/3154/32410/apocalypse-large.jpg I n many ways, the last thirty years  have been some of the most unusual ones in human history. Three major changes have taken place in this period, one positive and two negative. On the positive side, human civilization has seen an unprecedented rise of communications from mobile devices to the internet. Neither good nor evil can be hidden any longer as it could be in the past and communication between humans and most countries now proceeds at the rate of thought. This does not mean that evil is being eradicated yet.   It is merely being exposed. Rather it seems, evil is also making use of these tools while it becomes more and more shameless. The other two changes in human civilization are on the negative side. The first of these is an unprecedented rise in human populations to what some fear is fast heading towards unsustainable levels. The other is  rise of greed and practices emerging from it

Apocalypse during 2025-2050?

I n the modern world, while many do not believe in any Supreme Intelligence, power or God in the universe there are also others that do. If we confine our attention to the educated what is their stand? Consider the educated of the modern world in two groups. First are the well educated, those who have university degrees like a bachelors or masters and also some who do not have a degree but have an equivalent amount of education through self study or other informal channels. Then there is the second group of highly educated. These are the academics, scientists and people with doctoral degrees from reputed universities of our world. If a survey was carried out amongst these two groups to ascertain how many believe in a Supreme intelligence behind the universe, there would be surprising difference. Many more from the second group, a much higher percentage in fact believe in a Supreme Intelligence and Consciousness as compared to the former well educated group. The reason
