Last Days and Moments with Mother

Image
An old picture of Nand Rani (Nando) from around 1950 with her first born Deepak Malhotra I n life one shall come across humans who habitually create stress, conflict and hate while there are others who are peacemakers and spread love and peace. I have intimate experience of both kinds. My father who retired as a Colonel from the Indian Army was of the first type while mother was of the second type. She was indeed a godly soul if ever there is one among humans. Much of her life was spent in smoothing out obstacles and conflicts father would create for himself and others in the family, until she breathed her last on April 25 th  1999. They came to love each other nevertheless perhaps because life creates attraction of opposites. Moreover, she had confided in me that when she fully realized that at a young age, she had infant children on her hands and there was no question but to stick by him for the sake of children. The marriage had been an arranged one and I have des...

Peace in last moments of life

Roses for Nando and for no suffering but just peace for all about to depart A little while ago a friend on twitter, Diane Segura, tweeted about a link to a heart breaking story. A lady from Oklahoma, USA ( see ) recently caught a serious bacterial infection. She became very sick at home and her legs and arms were becoming septic. Her husband moved her to a hospital where she is in very critical condition. Major parts of both her arms and legs were removed by the doctors to save her life. Her husband visits her in hospital and shows her videos of the two sons and tries to console her but is unable to stay with her at hospital. At the time of this writing, her condition appears to be very critical. I had tweeted back that it is at times like this, more than any other, that I am reminded how badly humans need God despite all their science. Billions upon billions of bacteria and viruses are all around us all the time. Just one tiny one that one cannot even see is sufficie...

Three month old Rudra of Malin Village A few days ago at a place called Malin Village in Pune, India, a landslide brought an entire hillside crashing down and wiped out over 40 homes. Tens of bodies have been found and the count is rising; 150 are still missing. Earlier in the year the hillside above had been cleared of trees for farming and the hillside that had held solid for hundreds of years came crashing down in the rain because there was nothing to hold the soil together now. In a small home a mother was feeding her three month old baby Rudra when the crash happened. All around them their home came crashing down and they were trapped in tons of rubble. She screamed for help but none heard and she eventually fainted as did the grandparents of Rudra in another corner of the same home. But Rudra continued to cry and yell from time to time. His cries were picked up by listening instruments of a rescue team. The rubble was cleared carefully and underneath was Rudra ...
