Wishing you a very Happy New Year with sincere hopes that 2012 and beyond will lead to great improvements in the quality of your life.
Update January 11, 2012: This update adds an interesting photo to the post.It was shared on my facebook wall by the Naiital community on facebook. It shows a recent photo of nainital under snow. This one was taken from ground level unlike mine in the blog banner taken from top of a hill. There is a piece of level ground on one of the tips of the lake called the flats. It is surrounded by the town commercial area on three sides, the fourth is the lake itself. Everything is under snow right now. A real dream photo! Is'nt it?

And to you and yours too, Ashok! I hope all is well with you.
Thanks a lot Vincent. Wish you, K and all those dear to you a very happy new year and great times ahead.
Yeas I am well Vincent, just been a bit too busy to visit your and other blogs, and Oddly enough I was just thinking your blog to wish happy new year but good to find you here instead.
Hi Ashok, I wanted to drop by to say hello, Happy New Year, and wishing you well.
Thanks Rebb. I did think of you
on New Year and sent my best wishes your way.
Hope you liked the new picture with the title Rebb. For a change it is something I snapped myself :)
Ashok, I don't see a photo with this specific blog, but I did notice the photo banner for the whole blog. It's beautiful. Hope to see more of your photos. :)
Yes Rebb this blog post does not have a photo. I was referring to the photo banner for the whole blog. It is a photo of Nainital my childhood hometown.
I have a nice digital camera that takes neat pictures but the file sizes of the pictures are around 4mb each and it takes ages to upload on my dial up connection. That is the reason for not sharing more of my pics. Hopefully in the near future I shall upgrade to a better connection and do more on this front.
I still love Nainital and visit as often as I can. The reason for not shifting permanently is that it is a bit too cold in winter (it is presently under snow) but more important getting around it involves going up and down hills - both these make for discomfort as one gets older. In Jaipur, where I am now, the winters are nice and sunny most days (summers are quite harsh, dusty and hot though) and the ground is level for comfortable walks. However my first love is Nainital and who knows if the mother goddess of Nainital wishes I still may end up there.
That's what I thought, Ashok. Thanks for clarifying. Nainital is breathtaking. I can imagine the great peace and comfort you must have felt as a child growing up there.
Yes, I can see why you don't post more pictures. :)
That's great that you visit when you can. Cold can definitely be harsh, even for my bones. Thanks for sharing, Ashok.
Thanks Rebb. Yes I did feel a real sense of peace and security while growing up there and it is something that stays with me most times wherever I am. It was very perceptive of you to mention that.
I found another recent photo o Nainital under snow to add to this blog post.
Ashok, The photo of Nainital under snow is simply stunning. It am transported to a very happy place. Thank you for sharing such beauty.
Rebb, yes it truly is a happy place. I have tried to bring out the beauty in my novel - Nude besides the lake - (the nude is a religious nudity similar to the one in Genesis and not obscene)_ the novel can be read fully online on google books and one need not acquire one from amazon or amazon kindle if one did not wish to, in order to read it ( it is easily located through title search, just note the word in the title is besides and not beside). Incase you find the time to read it I am certain you would enjoy it. I have created the story by stringing together many real life events from my own life.
Ashok, Thank you I have added Nude besides the lake to my reading list. I look forward to it when the time comes.
Happy New Year, Ashok,
I look at your blog about economy and just noticed the beautiful photo underneath. It must be very cold out there with all that snow.
Hello Keiko, a Happy new year to you too. I received your wishes on facebook earlier too but it is nice to recieve them here as well.
