Where do visitors to this blog come from?

This blog has a clustr map and if you click on it, the origin of various visitors may be found. Besides India, most visitors are from USA, mostly California. Next are visitors from UK and Taiwan in about equal numbers. The visitors or visitor from UK are primarily from Windsor and Maidenhead. Wish they would post some of their feedback and thoughts as comments.

Canada, Japan and Australia comprise the next most visiting countries. There are a few visits from Philippines, Germany and Malaysia too. Besides the countries mentioned here, there are occasional visits from most other countries of the world. Somehow I feel that the countries mentioned in this post are most interested in the future of our planet and progress of mankind and therefore the most likely to succeed in the coming decades, besides the fact that a knowledge of English would be a reason for visits, but then that is the language most needed to operate in the new global world.

The one who is recorded as coming from Windsor or Maidenhead is probably me, Ashok! My service provider routes the connection between various neighbouring towns to equalise the traffic. Reading and Slough are used too.

The map was too small to see. If there was a little dot in Texas, that is me. If there are several dots in Texas they may all be me. I have access to and use several little dots, depending on where I am.

If there is no dot in Texas, it doesn't surprise me :(.

Hello Vincent. Good to hear from you. Been a liitle worried that you are well because I had not heard a lot from you. Yes the UK dots are from Windsor alos there are quite a few from Buckinghamshire in UK.

Hello John. Yes I was wondering where the Texas visits are coming from. Dint quite know where you were from and how you look because your blog shows a cube instead of your pic.

Hope you are far away from the Texan fires.

I used to love something called a Texan burger when I lived in Vancouver. It had a thick slice of onion between the buns besides the burger patty. Now though I prefer a burger without onion.Somehow I dont dig raw or rawish onion any more lately.

Let me make one thing very clear, sir. I am very proud of who I am, and who I am is NOT a Texan! I transferred here for a job.

John, perhaps in my response I have written something inadvertently that has offended you. If so please accept my apologies for the same. Being offensive in any way could not be further from my mind.

It appears that it has begun to rain in Texas( from the news) and that should help in putting out any wild fires.

No offense whatsoever, sir. I am not even sure what was supposed to offend. All is well.

Ashok,

I'm in a mood to object the following two points.

1. "I feel that the countries mentioned in this post are most interested in the future of our planet and progress of mankind and therefore the most likely to succeed in the coming decades"

You are probably trying to encourage readers to read your blog and add comments. Then I think you can be straightforward in writing that. Most readers do not like lecturing or prophet-like talk.

2. "then that is the language most needed to operate in the new global world."

It's true we need to read English in order to read your post, but I cannot totally agree with the statement. I'm also disappointed that even though you are fluent in Hindi, you don't try to let others know the differences in thinking, perception, grammar and so on between Hindi and English that is probably beneficial to non-Indian readers.

Keiko I am not very fluent in Hindi, especially not in any linguistic sense.I have absolutley no knowledge of the grammar of English or Hindi. I use these languages as working languages.

Linguistics is something I shall leave for others to do. I am not a linguist.

"You are probably trying to encourage readers to read your blog and add comments. Then I think you can be straightforward in writing that. "

No you are not correct in this assumption. I have meant exactly what I said.

"Most readers do not like lecturing or prophet-like talk."

If any reader does not like any of the talk in this blog, they do not have to read it. The contents of this blog are only meant for persons who like or benifit form what is written. I have absolutely no intention of changing the style and even if I had I would not do that if someone suggested it because first and foremost, I believe in writing what my heart and conscience dictates. it is not for those who do not like it though.

"I feel that the countries mentioned in this post are most interested in the future of our planet and progress of mankind and therefore the most likely to succeed in the coming decades"

Yes I meant precisely what I wrote, albeit approximately because the contents of this blog are not meant to be precisely and scholarly correct but rather informal mixed with some loud thinking, what I wrote here and there was no impled motive.

Hope you are well and that Japan is making fast recoveries from the earlier earthquake and nuclear problems. It is good to have your objections since they produce clarifications other readers can benifit from.

Keiko I strongly object to any suggestions that I have not been straightforward. I think it is unkind of you to even imply that to anyone because it is so easy to make accusations for anyone to any anyone but that is not the way I live because such talk does not produce happiness.

I believe in being straightforward or where I feel it is not possible to be so one should prefer and remain silent. Not being straightforward violates simplicity, one of the three principles I cherish along with love and truth.

I have no hesitations in telling my readers that I am interested in their participation but I say that directly when necessary. Please reread the post and find in the first paragraph the sentence:

“Wish they would post some of their feedback and thoughts as comments.”

Just incase my earlier comment is not misinterpreted I do not mind a request from a visitor for a post on any of the topics of this blog, just as long as I have some knowledghe of the area. Grammar, comparitive study of languages etc. is definitely not one of them

Great to hear that John!

Ashok,

I thought Indian people speak at least one Indian language, and what I was talking about does not require people to be a linguist. I think we have differences in opinion, and what we are used to.

Also, people who haven't comment on our blogs have various reasons such as never even know we exist and so on. So, we cannot judge the people we don't know, but that goes to also the people we know because we all have rights to write comment or just to read or not even to read or not even to click ever. Those are nothing personal.

ashok said...

You are right Keiko.

Actually I can speak and understand more than one Indian Language quite well, Punjabi and Hindi too.

And Keiko i speak some Arabic as well. all these without knowing much about the grammar. I used to skip the grammar questions in my school language and literature exams but did quite well with the other questions.
