Deep within the being of every living thing lies the infinite well spring of joy. It is our inner self that is united with infinity. It is because of this that living beings have a consciousness and it is because of this that living things can love and hate.
Humans scarcely realize their inner potential because their consciousness, focused on the mind and its doings, is turned away from the infinite. Worldly pleasures are great and the rich can indulge in them more fully than the poor. Yet this very ability of the rich makes it difficult for them to turn away their thoughts from their perceived pleasures and thus cuts them off from tapping into the infinite spring of joy within. It is not surprising then that it is the 'not unreasonably poor' who laugh more often than the rich and it is the poor who do not know anything about contrived smiling since they smile as it is without a need for pretension.
The same is the case with the lustful man or woman focused on momentary pleasures of the body. Experiencing inner joy that can be permanent is far from their reach.
This inner joy does not mean negating the external world since the external is a part of the infinite but it does need a focus away from one’s immediate possessions, needs and beefs. It is experienced in the external world in a communion with nature and the universe beyond.
One may wonder what happens to the personal needs of a soul unconcerned with the selfish needs of the body that temporarily houses this consciousness a lifetime at a time. A consciousness focused on the infinite does not ignore such needs but finds the easiest way of meeting them whenever necessary. The entire universe co-operates in meeting the needs of such individuals. It may be that the needs of such an individual seem minimalist to others but they suffice abundantly for the individual concerned.
What about societies that depend for their growth and well-being on increasing needs rather than doing away with them, economies that are consumer driven? What lies at the end of that road? That is something for each individual to discover.

I was about to go to sleep, then I saw this:

!@#$%. Too much joy or too much sadness or too much anger or whatever. It's all hormonal imbalances or spiritual imbalances. Excesses of emotion are indicative of a defect.
Just enrages me! Why can't we all be balanced?! Or at least me! Why can't I be balanced!
Uhh.
Good night, sir.
Sleep Well John.
I am certain that you will find the balance, joy and peace because you are willing to think things out and perhaps to move beyond thought.
A simple life makes me happy.
Hello Greenearth. Good to hear from you. For sure Simlicity is the essence of happiness.
I read about three green principles in another blog
consume less
Share more
enjoy life
could not agree with that more except that I would add one more principle
grow some trees
